On this Thanksgiving, Heidi and I are of course most thankful for our little guy. He brings such joy into our lives. His smile and his imagination are pure cuteness. He has also been saying the funniest things:
* He has really been into letters and while I am reading to him, he will sometimes ask where the word I just said is on the page. We were reading a book that is written all in lower case letters and I spelled out the word “three”. He asked where the “e” was on the page. I pointed to it and he looked up at me with a puzzled look and said “That’s a different type of e”. Our letter magnets are all upper case so I told him that it was a little e, a lower case e which is different from an upper case E. “That’s a young e,” he informed me. He has been calling all lower case e’s “young e’s” since.
* Gus is on the verge of no longer needing a nap, but we are stuck in limbo land, where if he doesn’t take a nap he goes to sleep at 7pm but if he does take a nap, he will stay awake in bed until 9:30pm or so. A week or so ago, he was fussing in his bed. I walked in and he said, “I can’t do this papa. I can’t do this”. I tried really hard to stifle my laugh. He was so earnest and distraught about the whole thing. A couple of nights ago, I entered his room while he was fussing and he told me between sobs, “Something’s just not right here, papa”. I have no idea where he picks these things up.
